Troubleshooting
Diagnose sign-in, quota, permission, disk-space, and save-file-lock problems.
Google Drive sign-in issues
Confirm that the browser sign-in completed and that you returned to the desktop app. If access was denied, try again with the intended Google account. Rove uses user-authorized access; it does not need a developer key from you.
Quota or permission errors
Check the destination account’s available space and whether the selected folder is writable. For a synced folder, check the provider’s own status and permissions as well as the local folder ACL.
Disk space
Local-first protection needs room for local revisions. Remove unneeded automatic revisions or Recovery Points only after confirming you no longer need them, and keep extra space for pending uploads.
Save-file locks
Some games keep save files open while running. Let the game exit fully, then allow the selected mode to checkpoint. If a file is still locked, Rove should leave the state visible rather than pretending the capture succeeded.
Offline behavior
Offline is expected: local revisions continue, and cloud uploads become pending. When connectivity returns, pending uploads resume unless you paused protection.
Updates
The updater can download while you play. Installation waits for tracked games and protection work to finish. It does not remove saves, settings, local revisions, or provider credentials.
